...is to spread the message that people can lead a full and active life after treatment for Breast Cancer through public awareness, the media, and paddling our best.
Our first race of the season has come and gone. Perhaps not our best results but certainly an event we will be talking about for some time! We were placed in the "B" division of the Open finals against 3 very worthy opponents. Shortly after the start of the race the dragon head fell off the boat and was dragging through the water. Did we stop? No Way! Okay so we placed 4th in that heat...but we FINISHED. Way to go Knot A Breast! That's true sportsmanship. Now we work some more and push ourselves a little harder so that we can be prepared for the Hamilton event on July 4th. We know we'll have stiff competition there as the KAB Friends and Family team will also be entering the event. We can't let them show us up. GRRRRRRRRR. The Friends and Family boat is made up of exactly that. The people who support us year round in our endeavors. Now they get to feel the rush of holding a paddle in their hands and being a part of a machine in which every gear, cylinder and piston is synchronized perfectly. A steam engine. A dragon boat team. And the members of the Knot A Breast team get to share their excitement of the sport with the people who mean the most to them. Lets go have fun!
